Old Bridge Surgery

Health Checks

We offer NHS Health Checks at the surgery for adults aged 40-74. It is designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes or dementia. As we get older, we have a higher risk of developing one of these conditions, the NHS Health Check helps find ways to lower this risk. For more information, please click here.

New patient health checks are carried out when a patient initially joins the practice, this helps the practice staff familiarise themselves with an individual so that their care needs can be met. Within the session the patient will have their height, weight and blood pressure measured and lifestyle advice will be given if appropriate. Any patient wishing to book a new patient health check, please contact reception on 01503 266960.

Cervical smear tests are carried out every three to five years depending on your age. Reminders are sent out by letter from the screening department when they are due. Those with previously abnormal results may require more frequent tests. The result will be sent to you from the screening department.
